Aaaaghhhh....

Aaaaghhhh---aahh---thats what Rohan is saying a lot now-a-days. He is really in a mood to talk at certain times of the day - when he gets up at 4 in the morning, first thing in the morning, and then evenings. Every time I touch his nose or give him a peck, he is so happy and starts talking. He also responds to Ravi's whistling - first he looks at Ravi, and then starts talking. I have heard him squeal as well.

He loves being hugged and cuddled. Now that he is a little bigger, I am not being stingy at all about giving him big hugs and lots of kisses all the time. Its so much fun! I can't wait for him to give me a hug back. That would be awesome. He finds Ravi's beard a bit pokey and frowns when Ravi kisses him.

We have heard about how nice all of this is, but to actually see him reach these milestones is heavenly.

Latest on Rohan

Rohan is almost 7 weeks old. So many cool things have happened in the last few weeks. Tatagaru and Nannama visited Rohan from Trinidad end of October!! Tatagaru had to attend a conference in Long Beach. So it worked out great. Rohan really enjoyed his time with them - Nannama gave Rohan his first bath.

Some other Firsts -

October 24th - Went to the Shiva-Vishnu Temple in Livermore with grandparents. Rohan was 21 days when he went through the Balaji Archana. There was a set of twins also in the temple at the time - they were a day younger than Rohan and born in the same hospital. We thought Rohan was tiny, but these two were even smaller. Rohan slept very nicely through the archana.

October 29th - We had a small ceremony at home with grandparents and Neha Aunty, Vivek Uncle and Akshay BHaiya. This was to put Rohan in the "Jhoola". The highlight of the event was everyone singing a small song/lori for Rohan. Tatagaru and Nanamma sang - "jo achuytananda, jo jo govinda", a telugu song which translates roughly to "sleep, achutananda, sleep govinda". Naani sang " ". Nanaji sang "Dhire se aaja re ankhiyan main". Ravi sang "Krishna ne vegane baro" and Richa sang "Yashomati Maiya se bole". Vivek uncle sang "Surmayi ankhiyon main nanha munha ek sapna deja re". All songs were beautiful and Rohan slept through most of this as well:)

November 5th - Rohan had his one month wellness check with the doctor. We were very happy to note that he had gained weight and grown as well. He was 8.1 lbs and 21 inches. Dr. Hadi was very nice to Rohan and even changed his diaper. Its so nice to be a baby, isnt it?

November 12th - This was Rohan's first Deewali. We had a nice pooja at home. Rohan was dressed in a Red - Blue outfit which is quite big for him but he looked handsome nonetheless.

Novermber 13th - Rohan went to his first party at Nidheesh Nanaji's house. Ravi and I were quite nervous about taking him out so soon, but were pleasantly surprised. He slept peacefully through all the noise. When he got up, he had his milk and then looked around intently at all the didis and bhaiyas who were eagerly waiting for him to get up. He also had fun with all the aunties as they held him. A lesson learned here - no need for us to shelter him, he is quite happy with people around him. On a side note, I was on a winning streak in Tambola and won four times for a total of $8 - money that will be well spent on Rohan's diapers:)

November 15th - Ravi's bday!! Rohan spend quality time playing with Naani as Ravi and I enjoyed a nice Italian dinner at Olive Garden. Food was great; we debated about turning non-vegetarian and ordering chicken marsala, but ended up just getting the usual -- eggplant parmigian. Conversation ranged from ipods to italian food to work, although it mostly centered around Rohan. We were quite eager to get back home, which we did within an hour and a half. Rohan and I are planning on buying a nice iPod for Ravi, which Ravi thinks he doesnt really need, but we all know really wants.

November 19th - Rohan got his first dose of Infant Tylenol. We noticed a little redness and small amount of discharge from his eye and he was also quiet and sleepy for the most part. To be safe, we gave him a small amount of tylenol. He looked fin in the morning.

Its awesome to see Rohan smile. Previously, we were not sure if the grins were real smiles or not. But now we know - each one is a million dollar smile - absolutely gorgeous! He continues to be fascinated by the black and white panda on his mobile and can stare, laugh and oooh - aahh at this toy for hours. Ravi says that his concentration is like his Tatagaru and Rama Atta.

We have been taking him out for walks as well in his stroller - the expressions are those of bewilderment upon seeing trees, sky etc and hearing the cars go by. He is usually awake for 20 minutes, then dozes off. He gets tired after these walks - anyone would, no?

One thing we have to be careful with - when we sit with him in front of the TV, he does tend to really focus on the idiot box! I dont know if he is looking at the images, listening to the voices or just staring at the black and white speakers. Whatever it is, we have had to turn the TV off when he is sitting here and is alert. Who knows - maybe we will stop spending so much time watching TV. From the latest research we have seen, watching TV by babies till 2 years of age causes attention deficit disorder. So teletubbies and winnie will just have to wait.
